Nonstop Bible reading unites Oklahoma Christian University

This news comes courtesy of Amanda Jordan, super-cool former Christian Chronicle intern:

All through the day and into the wee hours of the night, Oklahoma Christian University students read the entire Bible in one continuous session this past Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Students volunteered their voices and time in 15 or 20-minute increments to make this lofty goal a reality.
“It’ll be a cool way to say, ‘Here’s the word we really abide by – the Word that was with God from the beginning,’” sophomore Brett Vanderzee said.
Alphi Psi Omega, the campus’ theater honor society, decided to follow in the footsteps of fans of late comedian, Andy Kaufman, but with a religious twist.
“We wanted to do something like this for several years now,” Associate Professor of Communication Barrett Huddleston said. “On the anniversary of the death of Andy Kaufman, lots of performance groups get together around the country and will read ‘The Great Gatsby’ from start to finish, so Alpha Psi has wanted to do something similar but in a religious context.”

“But this I do say, that NOT PRAYING is a clear proof that a man is not yet a true Christian. He cannot really feel his sins. He cannot love God. He cannot feel himself a debtor to Christ. He cannot long after holiness. He cannot desire heaven. He has yet to be born again. He has yet to be made a new creature.” – J.C. Ryle (1816-1900)

The humility of earnest praying is missing in many churches.

That’s a wonderful idea. I would like to see someone engage in teaching the gospel on that scale. What an idea for parents to engage their children in for an entire day on Saturdays. keep it going.
