‘I won’t leave them, too’

 

Amid relentless missile strikes and power outages in Ukraine, the Chronicle spoke with Andrii Bilokonnyi, a minister who serves orphans and at-risk children in his war-torn homeland.

He was more than a kilometer underground — working as a rescuer in a coal mine — when a coworker told him about Jesus.

“There were lots of miners who died,” he said. “When the coal was burning, that looked like hell. That was the time to hear the Gospel.”

Thirteen women walked across the gymnasium stage at Nashville’s Debra Johnson Rehabilitation Center to receive a Master of Arts in Christian ministry, the first graduate degree Lipscomb University has bestowed behind the chain-link and razor wire of the correctional facility formerly called the Tennessee Prison for Women.
