Amid national outrage over George Floyd’s death, The Christian Chronicle convened an 80-minute panel via Zoom with five African American ministers and two Christian journalists — one black, one white — who have covered civil rights stories for more than 30 years.
In an interview with The Christian Chronicle, three black ministers discussed a letter of concern written in the wake of George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis police custody last week.
“We’re more concerned with the personal damage than the physical damage — the souls of those who did the damage,” said James Nesmith, minister for the West Broad Church of Christ, a predominantly black congregation.
Erik Tryggestad had been using the stay-at-home orders as an opportunity to virtually visit some of the congregations hosting services online. Here’s his latest experience.
