More than 1,400 women gather in Georgia
ATLANTA — The more than 1,400 women who met together for the 27th Annual Church of Christ Ladies Lectureship Retreat were anything but shy, one organizer said.
They greeted each other with original cheers, songs, skits and choreography, their voices and steps ringing through the Renaissance Waverly Hotel.
And that was just the opening gala.
Pre-teens through senior adults enjoyed four days of fellowship, exhibits, choral performances and classes at the annual event, which rotates cities each April. Organizers said the 2012 theme, “Stepping Up to the
Throne,” fit the mood perfectly.
“It was a weekend fit for queens,” said Nancy Cannon, a member of the Schaffer Road Church of Christ in Marietta, Ga.
Among the highlights were a semi-formal dinner and a formal breakfast, she said. The Bouldercrest Church of Christ in Atlanta sponsored the event.
