Members of the Heartland Church of Christ in Kansas City, Mo. (mentioned in our Fourth of July post), are raising funds to save a boy they met on a recent mission trip to San Ignacio, El Salvador.
The church’s website reports:
Edisson is a one-year old little boy who lives in San Ignacio, El Salvador. He has a rare heart condition, and without surgery, this condition is fatal. Heartland Church of Christ in Kansas City, Missouri is raising money to get him to Children’s Mercy Hospital for surgery.
Please donate now and help us save Edisson’s life.

FeedbackThank you for posting this story about our efforts to save little Edisson’s life. Please keep him and our work in your prayers. Any donations would of course be greatly appreciated!!Lenaira DayJuly, 5 2012Thank you for publishing this info about Edisson. Will you be able to put something in the printed version as well?Leslie RoeJuly, 5 2012Leslie: We’re working on the best way to handle the many, many requests we get along the lines of the one for Edisson.
In the current economy, we’re seeing more and more requests for funds to help with medical needs internationally and domestically and we simply don’t have the space to feature them all.
The print issue that should be arriving in mailboxes now has an editorial in which we try to explain this. (We even make mention of Edisson’s situation. When we post that editorial online, I’ll make sure to include a link to Edisson’s website.)
The best thing anyone can do in this situation is what you have done get a sponsoring congregation to take up funds and put together a website. That allows us to post links easily and direct people to a church (instead of a person) for the purpose of sending funds.Erik TryggestadJuly, 6 2012
