Mississippi TV station features a cappella worship at Church of Christ

News Channel 12 in Jackson, Miss., reports:

If you walk into a random church you might see a pipe organ. At another it might be a drum set and bass guitar. Many churches put these music-makers front and center during Sunday Service.
But a Jackson faith community has reversed that idea entirely.
Singing voices belonging to people trained or not blend and boom against the walls in Parkview Church of Christ.
Church Leader Dannie White explains that just like listening to preaching or donating money, singing is something you have to do for yourself for it to make an impact.
“We’re not in the entertaining business. We’re in the teaching business and we trying to get God’s word out in accordance to the New Testament,” White said.
“We do not use mechanical instruments of music here in our worship style and we stick closely to the Bible,” Ministering Evangelist Richard Wiggins said.

Nothing more beautiful than a cappella singing. God’s Word authorizes in the worship service. Colossians 3:16 & Ephesians 5:19.

Do you sing as a choir during your worship service? If so, then you are not following the New Testament. Wondering if this is just for the TV or an actual service.

So happy to hear of this congregation worshipping according to
God’s will! Very true that we are not to entertain but worship
    the Lord!

    Lovely voices and praises.
I have the same question as Lillian (previous comment).
and the swaying – was making me a little seasick – with the video not changing views was a little much. But the focus on the words of the song was worthy!

It is obvious that this took place in a lectureship and was covered by channel 21. The voices of Christians blending together is a little bit of heaven on earth. God knows more than any human being since He created man. Churches that teach the Bible only keep society together. The Bible plainly teaches that we sing to edify, encourage, and teach. We are not in the entertainment business, that is for Hollywood! Thank you for doing Bible things in Bible ways–Speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent! Thank you for the great singing!
