Mission-minded at 100
BRADENTON, Fla. — Nerve pain from postherpetic neuralgia has kept Lee Watkins from attending services lately at the 53rd Street Church of Christ.
But Watkins, who celebrated his 100th birthday May 4, remains vitally interested in mission work and still contributes to his favorite ministries, such as the Christian Home and Bible School in Mount Dora, Fla.
“His top interest is building (a radio) tower in Madagascar by World Christian Broadcasting,” said his daughter Marilyn Watkins.
In his younger years, Lee Watkins started Churches of Christ in Panama and throughout south Florida.
