Mission Lazarus Honduras mourns preacher’s death, prays for injured wife (Updated)
Update: “Everyone at Mission Lazarus, especially Reina and her two boys, are forever grateful for the outpouring of support from folks across the United States,” according to a recent blog post from the ministry. “Together we’ve been important pieces in the miracle of healing that God has done for Reina.”
A church-supported ministry mourns the loss of one of its preachers, Wifredo Rios, after a tragic motorcycle accident ended his life Aug. 30. Meanwhile, Christians in Latin America and the U.S. pray for the recovery of his wife, Reina, who was severely injured.
Reina is in a hospital in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, where she is being treated for severe head trauma, a shattered leg and a broken hand, according to a message sent to the ministry’s supporters.

Because of her life-threatening condition, Reina desperately needs to be moved to a private hospital where she can receive quality treatment, according to missionlazarus.tumblr.com.
“Currently Reina is out of a coma, but heavily sedated. Her head trauma is severe but the doctors, poorly trained and without an incentive to try, don’t know what the reality is,” said the blogger. “They’re just waiting to see about her brain. She’s yet to see or be treated by the neurologist.”
Mission Lazarus is seeking financial donations in order to transfer Reina to a private hospital.
