Member struck, killed in church parking lot
Members of the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Cookeville, Tenn., are dealing with a senseless tragedy.
According to a local news report:
A woman was killed (Sunday) morning when she was struck by a vehicle in the church parking lot at Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Cookeville, according to authorities and Jefferson Avenue leadership.
Mrs. Nancy (Nan) Stout, a church member in her 60s, was walking to meet her husband, Adrial Stout, who was already in their vehicle and moving toward her to pick her up, when another vehicle driven by Mr. Paul Wright struck her.
According to witnesses, Mr. Stout was in a position to see the accident, as were others who were assembled outside the church gathering for a fellowship meal in the adjoining building.
In a note posted on the church Web site, leaders said:
The Jefferson Avenue family would like to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers throughout the events of Sunday, May 2. As a Church family, our prayers and thoughts are with the Stout family as they mourn the loss of Mrs. Nan. Please continue to remember the Stouts and the Wrights in your prayers.
