Lipscomb University mourns death of freshman (updated)

Lipscomb student Liz LaVelle, a 2009-2010 freshman from Germantown, Tenn., was killed in an auto accident as she was traveling to Nashville from the Memphis area on Wednesday.
LaVelle, 20, a 2009 graduate of Memphis’ Harding Academy, is the daughter of David and Jenny LaVelle of Germantown, Tenn.
The funeral will be held Saturday, July 31, at 4 p.m. at Harding Academy, 1100 Cherry Road in Memphis. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. at Harding Academy.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of this bright young woman who was loved by so many,” said Lipscomb President L. Randolph Lowry. “In addition to her family members, Liz had many friends in our Lipscomb community. Our prayers and deepest condolences go to her family and friends as they deal with this sudden and tragic loss.”
