The Houston Chronicle reports on the 70-year marriage of Church of Christ members:
Audrey Cox, who will be 88 in September, said, “There was a different set of rules in 1942. When you made a commitment, you stuck with it.
“Take a sweet and gentle man and a firecracker wife and you tough it out through the good and bad and the ins and outs. There are times you don’t love each other, but you love each other. You just don’t give up,” she said.
Her advice to young couples today is to live right, no smoking or drinking and “love each other and tough it out.”
Clodis, who turned 89 in June, gives this advice: “Tell them to marry in the church and get along spiritually. When you have a problem arise, you have to control life by being like Jesus – caring and forgiving.”

FeedbackTo know them is to love them. Clodis and Audrey are the epitome of what a Christian husband and wife should be. They are a delight to be around, and the apple of God’s eye. And all should seriously listen to their words of wisdom.Kevin CainAugust, 16 2012Well done!
Would love an video interview with them.
How can we do that?Relate4ever PublishingAugust, 16 2012CONGRATULATIONS!!!!PRINCE KYEIAugust, 16 2012These two are an inspiration to the whole world, not just the churchTerri LessengerAugust, 16 2012AMEN, Kevin!! Albeit, Clodis believed me to be 63 and much older than my husband, Bob, all the while Audrey beat on him, knowing my real age, trying to shut him up and made a gallant attempt with the sweet remark “Honey, we are getting older, so our eyesight is failing… Clodis’ response “I see just fine with my brand new glasses”. Bob and I continue to laugh and love with Audrey and Clodis.Renisa Richard-DeemerAugust, 16 2012I love how the Houston Chronicle covered this – a secular mainstream publication. Clodis and Audrey are fantastic role models – known them since 1991 when we moved to Katy the first time. That woman has never missed a birthday or anniversary card to us, even when we were overseas for almost 10 years! Amazing people.Cheri DrennonAugust, 16 2012We have been reading what others have said about Clodis and Audrey! All we can say is “Ditto” and “Amen”! Our son, Jim and his wife, Paula, worship there at the Katy church, and our grandchildren grew up there also. What wonderful role models Clodis and Audrey have been to all of them, and to us also, even though we do not live there. If all would take heed to their wisdom on marriage, among other things, this world would be a much better place. Congratulations Clodis and Audrey, and we love you very much.J.L. and Barb TaylorAugust, 17 2012
