Join the Chronicle for #GivingTuesday 2018
It’s almost here! #GivingTuesday — the Tuesday after Thanksgiving — has become an international day of giving.
Out of all the wonderful organizations you could support, we hope you’ll prayerfully consider partnering with us on Nov. 27.
Our goal this year is $5,000!
It’s a big goal, but one we know we can reach with your help.
Here are our TOP FOUR reasons why you should consider joining us on #GivingTuesday:
1. Your help makes a difference: Thanks to the support of our readers, we’ve been able to tell the stories of Churches of Christ around the world. In 2018, we asked a series of Big Questions, including “In 2018, what is a Church of Christ?” and “What’s happening in our fellowship?” We also looked at how different generations view the church. We took an in-depth look at race relations 50 years after the tumultuous events of 1968. We mourned with each other as tragedy struck our fellowship — the shooting death of Botham Jean, the duck boat tragedy in Missouri, fires, hurricanes, a volcano and other natural disasters. These difficult events brought Christians together to help each other in a time of need. We traveled to the ends of the earth and reported inspiring stories from the mountains of Peru, the cities of “post-Christian” Europe and the islands of the Philippines. Without your support, we couldn’t report.
2. You can be part of what’s to come in 2019: We plan to take a sincere and honest look at the issues facing our fellowship in the U.S. We will look not only at the areas that divide us, but also the things that unite us in a common faith. We’ll also examine steps churches can take to make their meeting places safe in a world where it seems danger is the dominate headline. To make our reporting the best that it can be, we ask for your input — and your generosity!
3. Be part of a movement: Too often, we think of the holidays in terms of what we spend — not what we give. #GivingTuesday is more than a chance for us to be generous after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It’s a chance for us to take part in a movement of faith-based philanthropy. On Nov. 27, our special donation page will make it easy to contribute and see just how close we are to meeting our $5,000 goal.
When you contribute, you build on a legacy.
4. We print news that matters: In a sea of misinformation and half-truths, we need real journalism of faith. In 2018, The Christian Chronicle celebrated 75 years of informing, inspiring and uniting our fellowship. We’re honored to continue the vision of our founder, Olan Hicks, as we move into 2019. We were thrilled last April to receive the first-place Award of Excellence from the Associated Church Press for the fourth year in a row. We plan to continue bringing you stories that matter to the church. When you contribute, you build on a legacy.
The #GivingTuesday movement, which started in 2012, kicks off the charitable giving season. We hope this year you’ll make us a part of your plans.
We thank God for each of you and your continued support of The Christian Chronicle.
