Video: ‘I’ll pray for you’ Detroit church member tells copper thieves

Water gushed from pipes in the meeting place of the Church of Christ at Conant Gardens in eastern Detroit after copper thieves damaged the building.

WXYZ in Detroit reports:
It’s more proof that copper thieves don’t care about doing damage in, and stealing from, the house of the Lord.
“I doubt if we’ll be able to have service here Sunday because of this,” said Clarence Murphy who is a trustee at Church of Christ.
The illegal scrappers did so much damage when they ripped out the church’s pipes that water was left shooting about six-feet into the air in the secretary’s office where supplies for Sunday school are also stored.
Water is flooding areas of the church, rushing out of the doors to the church, even passing between the bricks and onto the sidewalks where it is making for a treacherous walk.
At last check, that crew had broken through the concrete in front of the church, dug a deep hole and was working on that repair.
To the copper thieves that caused all of this mess, Murphy says, “I’ll pray for you.”
