Houston-area church’s Barefoot Sunday benefits Haiti
FRIENDSWOOD, Texas — The Southeast Church of Christ is heavily involved in Haiti, partnering with the faith-based nonprofit Hope for Haiti’s Children.
On a recent Sunday, church members experienced a unique opportunity: take the shoes off their feet, place them on the stage and go home with bare feet.
The congregation donated not just the shoes that members wore to the assembly, but they also brought other shoes from home.
In all, 3,500 pairs were contributed.
“To see our people … give their shoes as a sacrifice to God and for the people of Haiti was overwhelming,” minister Rick Fyffe said. “It was an amazing day for us. To God be the glory!”
