A trip to Home Depot leads to a baptism — and hope for Venezuela
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — ‘Go Dawgs!” That wasn’t a phrase I expected…
In a village of Venezuela’s Cojedes state, children recently received meals paid for by Churches of Christ.
The note on the child’s box reads, “How are you? I hope you are well in spite of what is
happening. Have faith and hope in God.”
Retired minister Steve Watson and Venezuelan immigrant Cristian Yovera, both members of the Pegram Church of Christ in Tennessee, send medicine and relief supplies to the South American nation, where “whole families are fighting against hunger, fighting against an economic crisis and now fighting against a pandemic,” Yovera told The Christian Chronicle.
Yovera and Watson first met in the aisle of a Home Depot in Middle Tennessee. The friendship they developed resulted in Yovera’s baptism and the birth of a ministry for the people of Venezuela.
Contact Steve Watson to find out how you can help send relief supplies to Venezuela.
