Gold medal for creativity
BEIJING, CHINA — Billions who tuned into the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics got a glimpse at the creativity of Jennifer Ma, an alumnus of Oklahoma Christian University.
Ma served as chief designer of visual and special effects for the games.
“The Olympics are the biggest public event we have,” Ma said. “There is a lot of collaboration and thinking strategically with other artists to enrich the production and make it bigger and better. The bottom line is to showcase the innovation of the Chinese people.”
Ma was born in Beijing before moving to Oklahoma at age 13.
She found her voice in art and said she chose Oklahoma Christian because it was a Christian school close to her new home and because the art and design program was known for its quality.
