G. W. “Bill” Patterson, Memorial
Dr. G.W. “Bill” Patterson Jr., passed on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at the age of 93. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Durwood Patterson. He is survived by his lovely wife of 64 years, Mary; son, Richard and wife Linda; daughter, Prisca; son, Sam and wife Rema; 11 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Many will remember Bill as the dean of Columbia Christian College (1973-1977). Before moving to Oregon, Bill was the dean of the Harding Graduate School of Religion in Memphis, Tenn. For many years, Bill and Mary traveled to Churches of Christ throughout the country holding teacher workshops and leadership training courses. They opened their first Church of Christ bookstore in Dallas.

Bill was the co-editor with Holbert Rideout of “The Growing Christian Teacher” magazine for 25 years. He was the founder of Adult Continuing Education (ACE), which helps Christians get college credit for church Bible study.
He wrote several books, the most popular on church history, with his last being “Christ-Centered Servant-Team Leadership
.” He produced numerous Bible study guides and workbooks on discipleship. Much of his work has been donated to the mission field.
Mary and family invite friends to send cards, call or visit their home in Damascus, Ore.
