Lipscomb nets first-ever appearance in NCAA men’s tournament
Where in the world is Lipscomb University? How do you…
Garth Pleasant, former longtime basketball coach at Rochester College in Michigan, was sitting in church Sunday when he received a text from one of Don Meyer’s daughters.
The text informed him that coaching legend Don Meyer — his friend — had died at age 69.
“As I finished reading the text I realized the church was singing ‘Victory in Jesus,” Pleasant wrote on his Facebook page. “The legacy this man has left is matched by few in this world. He touched countless thousands. I so miss my friend, but I rejoice for him. Love you Coach and thanks for the memories.”
The Christian Chronicle profiled Garth Pleasant and his son, Klint, who succeeded him as Rochester College coach, in March 2012.
