Chances are, you read something in a recent issue of The Christian Chronicle with which you disagreed.
After all, we’re a diverse fellowship with a variety of viewpoints on matters of faith. Our mission is to represent as many of these perspectives as we can as we share the stories of our fellowship.
Let’s dedicate ourselves to thoughtful and respectful discussion of our faith.
We cherish the responses we get from readers who respectfully disagree with something they’ve read in these pages. We crave well-argued, well-scriptured responses and will find space for them here. Please send them our way.
What we don’t like, of course, are responses bathed in indignation, outrage and sarcasm — mired in the misconception that coverage of an event or viewpoint is endorsement of the same.
Not so.
Jesus didn’t shy away from the controversies of his day. Instead, he framed them in a context that points us all back to God.
Let’s dedicate ourselves to thoughtful and respectful discussion of our faith. May we resist the urge to follow the ways of the world — a place of increasing verbal assaults and division.
