Dallas church mourns soldier killed in Afghanistan
WFAA-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth reports:
DALLAS — U.S. Army Pfc. Devon Harris was only 24 years old when his vehicle came under attack in Afghanistan last month.
On Monday, friends and family came together at Southern Hills Church of Christ in Dallas to remember the life he led.
Harris played the violin and loved his church; that’s the way friends and family remembered him.
With a sunshine smile and a gentle spirit, Harris had hundreds of friends. Their prayers followed him to Afghanistan.
But on November 27 — after an attack by a rocket-propelled grenade — Harris left this message on his Facebook page: “My time is over.”
Southwestern Christian College has dedicated a scholarship to honor Harris, the television station reported.
