Austin Ave. Church of Christ is currently looking for a youth minister. The church is seeking an individual who puts God first in their life, is prayerful in all they do, who knows the scripture and is able to teach it, who is passionate about youth, who is dynamic and able to excite young people into growing closer to God, and whose goal is to lead their family, their church, and their community into a closer relationship with Christ.
The church is located in Brownwood, Texas. The congregation has approximately 400 members who regularly attend services. The current youth group is comprised of approximately 50 students in 7th grade through 12th grade. As most congregations in rural environments, Austin Ave. has conservative roots. There is no instrumental music, praise team, or Saturday night worship. However, the church is not unwilling to change. Worship services tend to include contemporary songs mixed with traditional hymns. Small groups are active and encouraged, and the church has a newly remodeled Family Center, which is regularly used for church and community activities alike.
Brownwood is a town of approximately 20,000 people. The community is located in the heart of the state and is one hour from Abilene, two hours from Austin, and three hours from Dallas or San Antonio. Brownwood is on the edge of the Texas Hill Country. Its terrain is comprised of rolling hills, live oak trees, lakes, rivers and lots of outdoor recreation, such as hunting and fishing.
The salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience. However, the position will pay within a range of $35,000 to $50,000, with health insurance for the youth minister and his family as an additional benefit. The youth minister will also be supported by the ministry team. The staff at the church consists of a pulpit minister, a children’s minister, an education minister, and other clerical and facilities staff.
