Employment Available: Instructor or Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Engineering and Physics
The Department of Engineering and Physics invites applications for faculty positions in engineering and physics that likely will begin in Fall 2019. The position(s) will be contingent on funding and may be at any faculty or contract level. For a tenure-track position, scholarship/research is required. For a college faculty position, an emphasis on primarily teaching would be desired. Faculty in the department currently work on research projects totaling nearly $5 million. The major reason for the position(s) revolves around the need for more instruction as faculty become engaged in externally supported research projects. A strong interest in undergraduate teaching also is required, and involving undergraduates in scholarship activities is highly encouraged. ACU offers degrees in physics and engineering with various concentrations. The B.S.E. program has recently been accredited by ABET, and the department is housed in the new $50 million science complex that includes the state-of-the-art Halbert-Walling Research Center, the Engineering and Physics Labs at Bennett Gym, and the Onstead Science Center. The department has a reputation of producing students who excel not only in academics, but also show strong personal characteristics of honesty and integrity. The department currently enjoys a three-year history of students obtaining 100 percent employment or graduate school placement, along with 100 percent passing rate on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
