Lipscomb Academy is seeking a proven and enthusiastic leader to serve as the Director of College Counseling. Qualified candidates should possess strong communication and organizational skills as well as prior work experience that relates to the position’s requirements. Candidate will be of high Christian character, positive and have the ability to communicate effectively with and relate to students, parents, teachers and all Lipscomb Academy constituents. Candidates will have a tremendous work ethic and an unwavering desire to lead and grow the Lipscomb Academy college counseling program. The Lipscomb Academy college counselor is responsible for guiding and preparing students to transition successfully from high school to college. Working collaboratively with the Head of the Upper School and the Associate Head of School for Academics and Student Life, the college counselor will create and lead a robust college admissions process for students and families that begins in eighth grade and provides increasingly more intense focus in the freshman through senior years. The college counselor is responsible to help students and their families with the comprehensive college search process, including selecting appropriate schools given the student’s qualifications, enrollment trends, completing applications and knowledge of deadlines and available scholarships.
The Director of College Counseling position is an important one at Lipscomb Academy. This person should delight in working with teenagers to help them achieve their college goals and take an active interest in their high school experience. Creating a college plan is important for a college preparatory school like Lipscomb Academy, so this position requires a person to develop events and programs that prepare our students and their families for the next academic step. This position requires a person who is comfortable communicating on all levels as well as leading meetings to ensure that our students and families are well informed. The Director of College Counseling is a member of the academic leadership team for the Upper School.
