The Director of Development is responsible for planning, implementing, and administering a comprehensive fund development program for Southeastern Children’s Home (SECH). The Director of Development is also personally active in face-to-face cultivation and engagement of prospects and donors. The Director of Development will report to the Executive Director – or whom the Executive Director may specify – any and all concerns related to development.
The Director of Development will maintain a professional and ethical relationship with all entities contacted on behalf of SECH.

Lead Development Team (including members of the Board of Directors) in creating the annual development plan
Manage and supervise the Development Associate
Manage all development operations processes including data entry
Oversee all development-related communications (print and electronic)
Plan and manage donor cultivation and relationship building
Actively manage key relationships (involving other team members in the process)
Plan and supervise the direct mail process
Establish and enhance a business giving program (emphasis on local prospects)
Establish and enhance a major gifts program
Organize and implement a planned giving program
Supervise the grant making process (research, writing, administration, evaluation)
Manage and participate (including speaking) in the Church Relations Program
Manage and participate in a local community relations program
Represent SECH to staff, community, and other agencies in a professional manner
Maintain current knowledge in development issues, trends, and developments
Participate in the implementation of ongoing best practice activities as they relate to accreditation
Stay abreast of and implement best practices in fund development

Person of integrity and enthusiasm
BS or BA degree or 3-5 years of experience in fund development
Certified Fundraising Professional or willing to earn certification
Commitment to spiritually-based mission of SECH
Desire to grow professionally and personally
Basic computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and database
Working knowledge of donor tracking software
Demonstrates commitment and competency in web-based communications, including social networking
Demonstrates commitment and competency in web-based prospect research
Basic understanding of bookkeeping principles and marketing concepts
No criminal record and has never been substantiated as the perpetrator in an abuse or neglect case
Must hold a valid driver’s license and should have auto insurance with limits as suggested by SECH policy
