Churches help after tornadoes
Joe Dudney of the Nashville, Tenn.-based Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort said the first truck filled with food and supplies was sent to Leesburg within 72 hours after the storm and that more would be sent to the Orange Avenue church in Eustis and the Belleview church.
“We’ve set up three centers that are working with many other congregations,” Dudney said.
Prather said cleanup and recovery is expected to last at least two months, and that college ministers throughout the Southeast are organizing crews that will repair homes, pick up debris and teach the Bible during spring break.
“What’s most exciting for us is the outreach project that will occur after the cleanup,” Prather said.
