Church of Christ makes beautiful music

The Sun-Herald in Gulfport, Miss., reports:
OCEAN SPRINGS — Preacher Rodney Britt has a deep voice that resonates throughout the Church of Christ during Sunday morning worship services.
Britt enjoys his position, but at one time, he was a member of the Christian group Acappella, which sings without musical accompaniment.
Britt toured with Acappella for more than 20 years ago.
“I spent a lot of my life recording and traveling the country and the world,” Britt said. “I have a bass voice and that has been a real blessing. I sang full time for a number of years.”
Britt carried his love of a cappella to the Church of Christ. During morning worship services, church members sing together without musical instruments. They do not have a choir or chorus.
“We try to join our voices in praise to God at the same time,” Britt said. “In the early stages after Jesus died, churches didn’t have instruments of music. We sing in the old style of the church without any instruments.”
