The worst flooding in 20 years washed away homes of church members in hundreds of village across Andhra Pradesh, a state in southern India, said minister Jacob Chukka. Heavy rains caused the Godavari River to overflow recently, destroying villages along its banks, Chukka said. Churches in the area reported no casualties from the floods, but church members in at least 50 villages lost almost all of their possessions.“Many Christians have become homeless,” Chukka said, adding that he and other church members are coordinating relief efforts to help the victims restore their homes and crops.
