The Kansas City Star in Missouri reports on Fourth of July activities — including a parade — that took place despite triple-digit temperatures:

As the color guard arrived at First and Main, Payton Dishman treated parade-goers to a stirring “Star-Spangled Banner,” in a voice beyond his 14 years.
He’s been tuning his instrument, singing a cappella at Heartland Church of Christ.
“Singing is my passion,” he said.
Nervous in front of such a big crowd?
“A little, but after about the first two notes, I’m good.”
