Adoracion Cruz Avisado, a regional trial court judge in Davao City, Philippines, is one of nine nominees for the post of Associate Justice of the country’s Supreme Court, philSTAR.com reports.
Avisado and her husband, Wendel, are longtime members of the Matina Church of Christ in Davao City, says Steve Byrne, a minister and elder of the Church of Christ at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.
The Philippines is a nation of more than 92 million people, spread across more than 7,000 islands in Southeast Asia. The Supreme Court, the highest court in the country, is comprised of 14 Associate Justices and one Chief Justice.
Avisado and her husband “each have truly fascinating life stories of service to God and their country,” Byrne said.
