Alan Spencer, 56, was killed shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday while riding his bicycle in Oklahoma City. Police are still looking for the hit-and-run driver.
Spencer’s family attends the Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond, Okla. A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22 at the church.
TV station KOCO interviewed the family.
Spencer lived an active lifestyle. His family said he once set a world record for speed racing, volunteered in Mexico, built custom motorcycles and was a member of a prestigious bike club.
While sobbing and holding her 3-week-old baby, (daughter Candace) Brooks said Spencer recently became a grandfather.
“And my sister’s getting married in October,” she said. “He was supposed to walk her down the aisle.”
Spencer’s family said they feel sorry for the driver of the vehicle that hit him.
“I can’t imagine having to live with something like that. Knowing you hit someone, and that’s a secret you have to live with for the rest of your life,” Brooks said.
