Christian school in Alabama has a special homecoming queen


The Mobile Press-Register in Alabama reports:

The Mobile Christian Leopards hosted Cottage Hill Christian Academy Friday for the school’s 53rd homecoming game.  

Mobile Christian has an enrollment of 681 in grades K3-12. The Class of 2015 has 52 seniors.

The school had a special nominee for homecoming queen: Emily Kendall, a senior with Down syndrome. She is the daughter of Tony Kendall, a teacher at the school for more than 30 years.

“Over the years, her playful spirit, along with her good-natured personality, have captured the hearts of everyone here at Mobile Christian,” Suzanne Hunton, the school’s director for advancement, said in an email.

Emily Kendall is a member of the Regency Church of Christ in Mobile. Her father teaches as an adjunct at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala. Mobile Christian School is associated with Churches of Christ.
