Gulf Coast Newspapers reports:
SUMMERDALE, Ala. — It may be just a 40 acre field of corn now but by next year, it could be well on its way to becoming a field of dreams for Caleb.
At least that’s what the faculty and students of Alabama Gulf Coast Christian Academy in Summerdale want to happen as they host the first annual “Saturday For the Park” on Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Summerdale Church of Christ located on Hwy. 59.
Complete with inflatables, face painting, carnival games, hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks plus a motorcycle ride, this event hopes to raise $7,500 to build a baseball field in Caleb’s memory.
Killed in a farm machinery accident in July 2009, Caleb Coxwell was a fourth grader at AGCCA and an avid baseball and football player. His dream was to someday play baseball for AGCCA and his parents, Ben and Bonnie Coxwell along with his grandfather Billy Lambert, (pulpit minister) of Summerdale Church of Christ, want to make that dream a reality.
