Campus ministers gather
ATLANTA — Campus ministers and student leaders gathered recently for “Connect ’09,” the 53rd annual National Campus Ministries Seminar. About 150 people participated, representing more than 30 campus ministries.
Campus Crosswalk, a national organization of campus ministries associated with Churches of Christ, organized the event to equip campus ministry leaders to embody the gospel of Jesus on campuses.
The theme was “Missio Dei: Living God’s Mission on the College Campus.”
“College campuses are one of the greatest mission fields in America, and God will use us to meet the needs of students all around us, if we will surrender our lives to him,” Jim Barnett, president of the Campus Crosswalk board, told participants. “I am confident that God’s plans for our campus ministries are much bigger than ours, and I pray this conference helps us discern his will and follow his way,” added Barnett, campus minister at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Keynote speakers Jeff Walling, Greg Bowles, Rick Harper, Don McLaughlin, David Pounds and Milton Jones shared ideas and practical suggestions for evangelism and spiritual formation.
