The Bridge to the New Testament: A Comprehensive Guide to the Forgotten Years of the Inter-Testament Period

By Denny Sissom

Summary:

Need a Christmas present for your dad who has everything or for a relative interested in history? How about a present for yourself so you can spend a winter day curled up with a book?

The Bridge to the New Testament, A Comprehensive Guide to the Forgotten Years of the Inter-Testament Period, is the perfect gift for everyone interested in ancient times. It is today’s most comprehensive and in-depth examination of the period between the end of the Old Testament and the beginning of the New. Relive the conflicts between the Ptolemies and Seleucids, political descendants of Alexander the Great. Appreciate the valor of the Maccabee brothers and how their legacy was squandered by their descendants, the Hasmoneans. See how Rome’s conquests set the stage for the New Testament. Understand the impact of Herod the Great, Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, Cleopatra, Pompey, and Caesar Augustus, names well-known to us even today.

This book may become the largest book in your library with over 300 maps, figures, diagrams, family trees, timelines, photos, and tables. In it, you will find details and inter-relationships that you likely have never known before. And most importantly, you will be able to see, visually, how it all fits together.

Discover why readers have called this book a “prized possession,” “extremely impressive,” “the most detailed survey that I own,” “a must-have for any student of theology,” and “not one of those dry, dusty books that will never get used.” See for yourself its “copious tables, figures, maps, and photographs” and enjoy a “very readable writing style.”

Biography:

Denny Sissom graduated from Tennessee Technological University with Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in electrical engineering in 1984 and 1985. His professional career has been spent working with computer modeling and simulation, computer-aided design, and software development.

A personal passion has been the study of Old Testament and inter-testament history. Noticing the lack of dedicated material on the inter-testament prompted him to teach several classes on the history “Between the Testaments.”  This book has evolved from his research and course notes gathered during many years of teaching both Bible and inter-testament history. Also, through personal experiences in traveling to Israel, he describes and shows many of the places discussed in the book.

Denny lives with his wife in Huntsville, Alabama. He has two children, two step-children, and two grandchildren.

If you are interested in a visit, an in-person overview of the inter-testament period can be taught at your church or school. Contact us at TestamentPress.com or email me at [email protected] to schedule your visit.
