Australian Christians discuss parenting
MELBOURNE, Australia — About 35 church members attended “Empowered Parenting,” a seminar hosted by the South East church, minister Brett Christensen said.
“Three Christian couples, who live quite different lives in different parts of Australia, were invited to come and form a panel of parents,” the minister said.
Participants were John and Judy Wall from Bairnsdale, Ian and Diane Coker from Toowoomba and David and Joy Mowday from Gosford. The panelists discussed how they spiritually nurtured their own children. Christensen and his wife, themselves the parents of three teenagers, and other attendees said they got a lot of good advice during the seminar.
At first, some of the panelists were apprehensive, Christensen said. “None of them put themselves forward as experts or model parents, but I asked them because they had all successfully raised children to be adult disciples of Christ in this harsh spiritual wilderness known as Australia.”
