Video: Alabama church helps former member raise funds for power wheelchair

WHNT in Huntsville, Ala., reports:

John Benson moved from Florence to start a life with his now-fiancé Mandi Haroldson.
However, his electric wheelchair broke down. Now, he’s stuck in a nursing home.
“The wheelchair would allow me to get back into the community,” Benson shared. “It would help me when I’d like to be independent.”
So, he created a Facebook page,’Let the Phoenix Rise Again‘, to raise the $1,035 he needs to rebuild the motor.
Members of the Wood Avenue Church of Christ in Florence, where Benson used to attend, are stepping up to assist in the campaign.
During his time in Florence, Benson “was an inspiration to us,” church member Greg McMurtry told WHNT. “He always seemed to have a knack to overcome adversity and he was always real strong in his faith.”
