God in the rubble
ROWLETT, Texas — Rain poured on Mike Patterson. The Texas…
Members of the Western Heights Bilingual Church of Christ in Dallas took part in a family’s rescue mission — for cats — after a deadly tornado struck the nearby town of Rowlett, Texas.
“The family is desperately trying to save their cats,” Sylvia Bustillos, wife of minister Mike Bustillos, posted on the congregation’s Facebook page. “They can hear them meowing through all the debris.”
After hours of searching, one of the family’s cats was found and rushed to the vet. The animal, trapped under rubble for three days, looked like it would be OK, Sylvia Bustillos posted.

The church members spent four to five hours moving debris and prayed with storm victims, Mike Bustillos told The Christian Chronicle. It was an incredible experience and the residents were grateful for the assistance, the minister said.
The Dec. 26 tornado was part of a massive storm system that caused outbreaks of severe weather — which also included blizzards and floods — across the states of the Midwest and South in the U.S.
