After storm, Memphis church reaches out to the powerless

People in the Memphis, Tenn., area who lost power after a recent storm found shelter, showers and cups of warm coffee at the Church of Christ at White Station, WREG reports:

“Tuesday morning, we said why we don’t try to do something for the folks without power. And they don’t have a place to take a shower, they don’t have a place to get a cup of coffee,” said (minister) Leon Sanderson.
The church has opened its doors before when the community lost power and says it’s had several people come in. It is also offering its gym to anyone who might need a cool and free place to stay.
