A ‘gadgeteer’ of the Gospel
Whether you want reflections on the book of Isaiah or reviews of the latest apps for your iPad, Henry Kong is your man.
For 45 years Kong has served as minister for the Pasir Panjang Church of Christ, the largest congregation in Singapore. The city-state in Southeast Asia is a hub for technophiles, with four-level malls filled with stores selling the latest digital cameras and state-of-the-art phones.
The minister, a self-confessed “gadgeteer,” maintained a website dedicated to “the three C’s — Computers, Church and Cuisine.” His thoughts on Christian discipleship, the best place to get fried rice and mobile phones are online at ppcoc.org/henry.
Last year, he moved his operation to Facebook, launching the group “Henry’s Occasional Technology Stuff.”
Recent posts include his 10 favorite iPad apps and reviews of the Xbox Kinect video game system.
Occasionally, his passions cross paths. He reviews the latest Bible software — including programs that display maps from Bible times and applications that can access Scriptures from the New International Version and King James Version simultaneously.
