Church members and a cappella music fans are mourning the loss of Gary Miller, who died March 12. He was 60.
A memorial service is scheduled for March 16 at the Sulphur Wells Church of Christ in Springville, Tenn.
Miller was a founding member of Vocal Union, an a cappella group that performed in a Southern Gospel style. Vocal Union is one of the singing groups under the umbrella of Acappella Ministries, overseen by Keith Lancaster.
During his career, Miller also sang bass for one of the incarnations of Acappella. He was the chief recording engineer, songwriter and producer for many albums produced by Acappella Ministries.
Here’s a note about Miller from Keith Lancaster’s blog:
We mourn the passing of our dear friend and Jesus follower, Gary Miller. He has served as an integral talent in the Acappella Ministries family for many years. Gary has written many of the songs that were recorded by Acappella, AVB, Acappella Children, the Vocal Union and the Praise & Harmony Series – as well as recording every one of the Praise & Harmony albums. As the leader of The Vocal Union, he shaped the group into a stellar blend of smooth harmonies and powerful messages. His sweet and gentle Christ-like spirit will be remembered by everyone who met him. Please pray for the Miller family during this time of loss.
