84-year-old church member is record-holding ‘Most Durable Batboy’

The Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tenn., reports:
For those who have spent time around Stan Bronson, the young-at-heart 83-year-old fixture on the University of Memphis campus and Tiger sporting events for more than 50 years, there are the stories. It seems as if everyone has a favorite.
Most revolve around U of M athletics, where Bronson, mentally challenged from a trauma at birth, has been the school’s batboy since 1958, a streak that has him in the Guinness Book of World Records as “Most Durable Batboy.”

A celebration of Bronson’s 84th birthday July 19 will double as a fundraising campaign for his medical expenses. Members of Branson’s congregation, the Highland Church of Christ in Cordova, Tenn., are expected to attend, the newspaper reports.
