Twenty new souls added to Christ — and counting.

As of this moment, that’s the total number of baptisms resulting from the 2010 Campaign for Christ sponsored by 39 Houston area congregations.

In addition, more than 100 campaign visitors are being contacted about setting up home Bible studies, said Wendell Hart, associate minister of the Sugar Land Church of Christ.

Hart provided The Christian Chronicle with these details concerning the campaign, which featured worship assemblies July 31 to Aug. 3 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston:

• Campaign’s objectives: unity, fellowship and evangelism.

• 39 sponsoring congregations: ethnically diverse cooperation from across the Houston metro area.

• Campaign speaker: Jack Evans Jr., minister of the Lake Como Church of Christ in Fort Worth, Texas.

• Distributed: 1,075 free back-to-school supply packages to needy students.

• High attendance: 2,900.

Elders of the Sugar Land church provided oversight for the campaign. Thomas Foster, minister of the Missouri City Church of Christ, served as campaign coordinator. The next Campaign for Christ will be in 2012.

I attended the August 2nd session of the Campaign for Christ and it’s awesome that 20 souls have been added to God’s Kingdom. I hope and pray that these souls will have, if they don’t have already, to mentors so they can be discipled and become disciples for others to hear the Good News.

The conference was very very good, however, I would like to have seen a more diversified sisters and brothers together. We plan to be together in Heaven so we need to be more together here. I attend the Church of Christ in Cleveland, Texas East First Street. I and we need to set ourselves together. I know all Churches of Christ are not the same but for us following the Bible we need not to be out shown with our devotion by others outside the body.

I was there! Not only were 20 souls baptized, but my spirit have been revived and enriched by the great and powerful Gospel of Christ preached at this Campaign For Christ. May our Lord bless everyone who united their hearts with the “the gospel of Christ.”

Thank God for his guidance and blessings throughout the planning, funding and execution of this historic occasion! God be the glory for all of the efforts of his faithful children in the body of Christ. I was so full from the singing, preaching, fellowshipping with saints from all across the city. An event to unify the churches of Christ within the Houston area was so needed because so many in the brotherhood are straying away from God’s will and implementing man’s will into His Church. Thank God for this victory and the thousands of brothers and sisters who took part in the 2010 Campaign for Christ.

The 2012 Campaign for Christ is a huge success. The planning and implementation that has taken place for the past year and a half was well worth the effort. The services were beautiful, the singing beyond amazing and 20 so far baptized into Christ. Praise the Lord! The participation of brothers and sisters from across Houston Church of Christ congregations is a testament to the love that Christians have for their fellow brothers and sisters and their devotion to saving the lost. For anyone that was unable to attend or were unaware of the campaign until now – don’t miss next year or this Tuesday or Wednesday evening!! All Churches of Christ endeavoring to unite for the cause of Christ is in one word – beautiful!!!!! Thank you to all my brothers and sisters that attended the campaign, may God grant the increase as the seed has been planted.
